Dry Tortugas National Park

The Dry Tortugas National Park is one of the very best places to Play in Nature! It is a very special place for me. It was on my list to visit for years thanks to my Mom talking about it ALL the time, and it was even better that we got to visit the island together the first time we went. Getting to the Dry Tortugas National Park is a bit of a challenge but there are multiple ways to get out there. We took the Yankee Freedom. You can also charter a boat or a plane! How cool! A friend of mine has a charter company called Fishmonster and they do private overnight trips out there. That is certainly on our list for another visit. With so many possibilities for Places to Play in Nature adventures we rarely want to go back to a place twice – but this is certainly one that we would both go back to tomorrow and one we highly recommend.

Fort Jefferson at the Dry Tortugas National Park

Once we made it to the Dry Tortugas National Park we had 4 hours to explore before we needed to be back on the boat. I can’t say I explored the fort very much but that is because I was really excited to go snorkeling. I had heard from so many people that the snorkeling is out of this world. And they were right! Snorkeling in the Dry Tortugas National Park is the best snorkeling I have ever seen.

As you can see from some of the photos below the snorkeling really does live up to all the hype. Take some time and visit the Dry Tortugas National Park if you find yourself drifting through the Keys or start with the end in mind and make this your ultimate destination!
