Mt. Rainier National Park

Last weekend Scott and I went exploring and we made it all the way to Mt. Rainier National Park. I never thought I would be using the words Summer and snow in the same sentence but I guess welcome to Washington! I knew the mountain had snow on the top year round I did not think that it was something we were going to see let alone spend time playing in. We drove up to the top to a little place called Paradise. They have an awesome lodge up there as well as a welcome center and multiple trail heads. From what I understand this place is pretty much covered with snow in the winter. Heck it’s June and there were still piles of snow 10 feet high! We hiked up in the snow for about 45 mins to an hour before we decided we needed to turn back. Neither of us was dressed for the weather … we both had on shorts and t shirts. I found out that is was really fun after you fall down in the snow to just slide on down the rest of the hill on your rear!

We hope to visit again next month and see some of the wild flowers that are trying to come up! Mt. Rainier National Park should be very high on your list of places to see while in Washington State.

Here are also a few good resources to learn a little more about the park:
